Wedding Performances

I have been playing at weddings in New Mexico since 2001. I am comfortable with religious ceremonies from a variety of faiths (not just mainstream ones) as well as secular ceremonies, commitment ceremonies, vow renewals, and receptions.

You probably have a rough idea as to what you want your ceremony and reception to be like. If live music is part of your plan, this page will help you determine whether the specific music services I offer fit the ceremony you want. You will also be able to compare my services, and prices, to those you find elsewhere.

My Product

I provide solo performance on the acoustic or classical guitar for both ceremonies and receptions. For receptions, I combine solo guitar performance with arias and art songs in Italian, French, and German.

Price List

I offer a variety of wedding packages. A detailed description of each, and the prices, can be found here.

Samples

Here are some short *.mp3 clips of what you can expect if you book me for your wedding. I'm limited in what I can post here because I must either own the rights to the music (as is the case with one of the samples below), or the music must be public domain.

Bourrée Sample

This is a clip from the E Minor Bourrée by Johann Sebastian Bach.

Amarylli Sample

This clip is from "Amarylli", an Italian art song by Giulio Caccini, who died in 1618.

Wedding March Sample

This is a clip from the Wedding March from "Lohengrin", by Richard Wagner. It's the best known wedding processional in the Western world.

Modern Sample

This is a clip from one of my compositions.

The Look

At your wedding, you're the center of attention. Everything I do is to enhance that. This means my look is classic, understated, and conservative. In the above picture I've got a troubadour outfit and an acoustic guitar. However, I dress to match the location, time of day, and level of formality. If you prefer a subtler look, my "uniform" is a white or off-white blouse, a black jacket, and black pants.

For a more formal look I wear my hair up and decorate it. If you like, I can incorporate your wedding colors into my up-do.

Indoors I wear pumps with a heel, but outdoors I wear ankle boots or black leather shoes for safety because I have to carry my guitar and equipment.

I must wear pants because I sit in the classical position (see the above picture). A skirt or dress wouldn't do.

Pricing, Terms, And Conditions

I don't believe in keeping my prices a secret, or in forcing you to invest time and effort learning what you need to know to decide whether or not you want to hire me. Nor do I believe in inflating prices for my performance simply because the person booking me is having a wedding as opposed to some other kind of celebration.

If you're planning a wedding, your job is already hard enough. Live music is just one of umpteen different products or services for you to compare and choose. So the easier it is for you to find out what I've got to offer and how much it costs, the faster you can decide whether my product works for your overall wedding plan and your budget.

The No-Deposit Booking Experiment

My business goal has always been to make it as easy as possible for customers to pick me instead of someone else. During these tough economic times I have to keep trying new ideas and experimenting with ways to make it even easier and more satisfying to do business with me by removing barriers that might discourage customers.

An advance deposit is definitely a barrier for many customers. So, for gigs that require less than four hours of my time including travel, I've been letting people book me without a deposit. Mostly it's been working out.

No-deposit booking is just a business experiment. It's been working so far. If I start to get enough last-minute cancellations or bad checks, I'll go back to the booking fee. As long as my customers stay honest, though, I'm willing to keep it informal.
