Current Projects

This section of my site is for my current projects. At any time, one or more of them will be getting a bigger share of my attention.

Due to the number of projects I have underway, I am no longer putting jam bands together for one-shot performances, or maintaining the Too Bass Hit jazz band.

Aria Project

I sing French, Italian, and German arias and art songs and accompany myself on a classical or acoustic guitar. From time to time I play a classical piece. I am open to the idea of working with a flautist or another singer.

The people who book this kind of act generally want an hour or two of background music for a wedding reception or a dinner. My goal is therefore to provide positive, happy music with a few melancholy tunes. The goal is not to be the center of attention with a bunch of Wagnerian sturm-und-drang or vocal pyrotechnics.

Accompaniment Project

I accompany classical singers on a classical or acoustic guitar. My fee is $5 per song for recitals or concert performances.

Thünderbünny Project

This is comedic heavy metal for the over-21 crowd. I'm doing the songwriting and arrangement, and probably the vocals and lead guitar. This project is still in the writing stage.

West Side Jam

From time to time, I host a house jam in my home. I'm located on the west side of Albuquerque near Unser and Ladera. The house jam is an evening event that usually runs from 7 to 10 PM. It's an alcohol-free, smoke-free, drug-free state of affairs. Lately we've been jamming jazz from the Real Book, Volume 1.

I keep a drum kit, a small bass amplifier, and an electronic keyboard on hand.

Everybody is welcome to jam with me regardless of experience. It is a low-stress environment where competitive attitudes aren't welcome. If you have a competitive attitude about music, go to the Scallo's jam or an open mike event. My home is a peaceful, loving place where we come together in the service of music. All kinds of people show up, from complete beginners to very experienced people at the top of the local food chain. The beginners jam for experience; the experienced pros jam to meet new people, pick up students or customers, and make contacts. I really never know who's going to be there and every night is different.

I used to occasionally take a bunch of people from the West Side Jam and perform as a jam band for some community or non-profit charitable event. However because of the difficulty of organizing and rehearsing pickup bands, I am no longer booking the jam for gigs.
